We are proud to introduce Humberto Alcala, a modern-day medicine man who will be leading all of our medicine retreats. Humberto’s journey began ten years ago when his personal experiences with ayahuasca guided him away from a successful contracting business in California and towards becoming a revered facilitator and shaman of mental exploration and emotional healing through sacred medicines.
His path led him to live among indigenous tribes deep in the Peruvian jungle near Pucallpa, where he trained extensively with an experienced traditional Shipibo Shaman. This immersive experience included master plant dietas, vision quests, and profound inner work. Humberto’s unique background, combined with his traditional shamanic training, allows him to serve as a bridge between the western psychology of most participants and the native South American medicines and cosmology. This integration facilitates a transformative experience for retreat guests, enabling them to fully embrace the lessons learned during ceremonies.
Originally conducting small-scale sessions in his birthplace of Tepatitlan, Jalisco, Mexico, Humberto’s work has now expanded worldwide. He has traveled to various regions of Mexico, numerous cities in the United States, Europe, and now South America. With almost 8 years of experience, Humberto has facilitated over 400 sacred medicine ceremonies. Known for his down-to-earth, easygoing, and compassionate personality, he creates a safe and secure environment for all participants. Humberto’s philosophy centers around the belief that there is nothing to fix, and that we are already perfect as we are. He offers a transformative opportunity for individuals to reconnect with themselves, learn, grow, heal, and ultimately remember their true essence.
Dr. Liberty Eberly is a visionary leader in the field of psychiatry with a focus on holistic care, the intersection of spirituality and mental health, and the incorporation of psychedelics and plant medicines in healing, recovery, and personal growth. As a board-certified psychiatrist practicing since 2009, she also recently became a certified psychedelic-assisted therapist, with an emphasis on psilocybin, MDMA and ketamine.
Dr. Eberly attended her first ayahuasca retreat at Mexisoul in 2023, returning for retreats with friends and family several times since, drawn to the safety, small-group intimacy, and loving support of the staff at Mexisoul. She also recently completed a very disciplined, 3-week master plant dieta in the Amazon jungle of Peru, working with a Shipibo shaman to both deepen her own experience with ayahuasca and to build a relationship with the sacred Amazonian Noya Rao tree.
During your Mexisoul retreat, Dr. Eberly, in the role of integration coach, will lead group discussions on integration and will be available for 1:1 sessions to support your unique, personal journey and exploration. She often uses an IFS-informed (Internal Family Systems) approach to help individuals tap into their own internal wisdom and will empower you with skills to take home post-retreat, ensuring your time at Mexisoul will be transformative and unforgettable.
Krista, a gifted medicine woman, brings her gentle presence and nurturing spirit to every ceremony at MexiSoul Retreats. Her strong feminine energy creates a safe container for deep transformation, helping each participant feel truly held throughout their journey.
She leads and coordinates the support team, ensuring that ceremonies unfold with care and love. Deeply attuned to the emotional and energetic rhythms of the space, Krista offers calm, heart-centered leadership to both the team and our guests.
Her grounded presence anchors the room, bringing steadiness and sensitivity to each moment. With an intuitive sense for what’s needed, she helps cultivate an environment where guests can surrender to their process and feel deeply cared for.

Consistently Safe, Empowering, and Heartfelt — My Journey with MexiSoul
Having attended multiple MexiSoul retreats, I have consistently experienced the environment as safe, therapeutic, and deeply empowering. This recent retreat was my first Psilocybin ceremony, and I can say without hesitation that each ceremony became a profound journey of healing, reflection, and personal growth.
From the moment you arrive at the finca, you are welcomed into a community that genuinely honors the sacredness of plant medicine work. The team creates a space where you feel seen, heard, and supported—whether it’s your first retreat or your sixth.
One of the things I value most about MexiSoul is their emphasis on integration. The experience doesn’t end with the ceremony; it’s about how you process and embody the insights long after. Through breathwork, art therapy, circle talks, and one-on-one conversations, the integration support has been a vital part of anchoring the lessons I’ve gained.
The beauty of the finca, the thoughtfully curated ceremonies, the nourishing meals, and the genuine heart of the staff make MexiSoul a truly special place. Each retreat has offered me a new layer of insight, peace, and connection—not just within myself but with a larger human experience.
The many times I’ve attended MexiSoul have all been meaningful and transformative. I hold deep gratitude for the integrity with which they hold this sacred work, and I’m honored to continue this journey with them.

A Safe, Supportive, and Transformative Place for Spiritual Evolution
I recently joined the July 23–29 Ayahuasca retreat at MexiSoul, and just like my previous visits, it delivered—as always—a safe space for healing and deep spiritual work. The staff is consistently warm and professional. Their constant presence throughout the ceremonies makes you feel genuinely supported, not just during the ceremonies, but before and after as well.
The ceremonies are powerful, guided with clear intention, and elevated by live music from a talented band whose voices and instrumental skills raise the energy in the room. There’s space for emotional release, deep reflection, and personal inner work. Every participant’s process is respected, and you’re never left alone in your journey.
The finca itself is breathtaking. Its rustic charm, agave fields, horses, and even wolves on-site create a sense of grounded peace. Nature becomes part of the medicine here. Meals are simple yet nourishing, prepared with care to give your body exactly what it needs for this kind of work.
What truly sets MexiSoul apart is how much they prioritize integration. This isn’t a place where you drink medicine and are left to figure things out on your own. The integration is holistic and intentional, with journaling, breathwork, music, movement, sharing circles, and even horse therapy. This structure supports not just the ceremony nights, but the emotional processing that continues in the days after.
Every time I return to MexiSoul, I leave with a deeper connection to myself and a greater sense of peace. This is a place held with integrity, and I’m grateful for the work they do.

I am glad I listed to her
I wanted to leave before the retreat was over. My husband was sick, and I thought I had gotten everything I needed from the first ceremony. I was wrong.
She convinced me to stay because, based on her experience and practice, she knew that what I was about to confront wouldn’t be easy to navigate with just one ceremony. And she was right—I wasn’t ready to return to life yet.
Later in the process, she educated me on what to expect both physically and mentally. Life slapped the shit out of me—but this time, I was ready for it. I locked my jar tight.
I’m now on Day 3 of integration. Holy cow, it’s hard. But I’m processing everything with the tools and techniques I learned from the program.
My only unsolicited advice: please listen to her. If you're struggling, talk to her before making any decisions on your own. She knows what she’s talking about.

To whoever is searching for their answer,
I originally intended to write my review after completing the 30-day integration, but I changed my mind after going through the hardest part on Day 3. I feel that sharing my experience now might encourage someone who is still unsure about their decision.
Before starting my retreat, I hoped to find a magic wand that would solve all my problems. The answer is no. Am I disappointed? Absolutely not.
The experience I had at Mexisoul has been life-changing. I was in tremendous pain—so much that I wanted to exit this world. For over ten years, I was on FDA-approved medications that were supposed to help me get through daily life. None of them truly helped; they only wasted money I could’ve donated to an animal shelter to make the world a better place. Even counseling never truly convinced me to believe in myself.
Mexisoul helped me start a new journey.
As I mentioned, three days after returning from the retreat, I faced a very difficult moment. The reality of life hit me hard. But this time, I decided to confront my inner demons—because Mexisoul taught me that I am strong and that I am enough. It was incredibly difficult to face the deepest parts of my emotions, but I did it. And this is just the beginning of my new path.
I don’t know what challenges lie ahead, but I’m willing to try and find out. That’s the biggest change in me.
I’m a spoiled city girl, born and raised—someone who never liked camping. But Mexisoul's service was more than satisfying. The beautiful site, the amazing staff, and the way they showed love and compassion to strangers—who eventually became my dear friends—I already miss them so much.
I’ve shared this experience with friends who face similar struggles. If any of them decide to go, I will go with them without hesitation.
To whoever is reading this: I wish you all the best on your journey to find your Nirvana.
