About this Retreat
Barbara Bash is a calligraphic artist who has been exploring the mixing of Asian sensibility with Western art forms for many years. She creates group experiences of creative aliveness with brush, ink and simple ritual. She is a Shambhala meditation instructor and has collaborated with musicians, storytellers, and dancers in fresh forms of visual learning.

Roger Guest is a seasoned meditator in the Vajrayana Buddhist and Shambhala lineages. He has been leading Silent Kayaking Retreats for over 5 years and has been teaching meditation since 1976. He is the author of The Tender Heart of Sadness, a book of reflections on the Spiritual Warriorship tradition of Shambhala.

Family Camp Reunion at Sky Lake!
October 10th-12th 2025
Calling all Tigers, Lions, Garudas, Dragons, Explorers, Earth Warriors, and young and old adults! Please join us at our beloved Sky Lake, where we will gather together to practice, play, and enjoy family and the natural environment. There will be offerings by Barbara Bash, a former Artist in Residence at Family Camp and Roger Guest, a former Teacher in Residence. This is a community-organized gathering and we will be relying on the participation of each of you to make this a joyful weekend.
This family weekend begins Friday with dinner at 6pm and concludes with lunch on Sunday. You are welcome to arrive any time after 12noon on Friday. You are highly encouraged to bring your tent and all that is needed for camping as indoor space is limited. Older children may have the option of sleeping with their peers in the shrine room, along with a chaperone, so do bring along a sleeping bag. There is also the possibility of nearby lodging in Rosendale, High Falls, and New Paltz which you are welcome to explore.
The cost of the weekend is $125/adult and $75/child. For students and young adults, the cost is $100 for the weekend. If this might be a hardship for you, kindly reach out to Donna directly. There is an additional charge of $250.00 for a room for the weekend. Kindly register by September 26th so we can best prepare for our gathering.
What You Should Bring:
Tent, sleeping bags, pillow, towels, flashlight
Weather appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes/sneakers for hiking and time outdoors
Favorite outdoor games/board games, story books
Musical instruments

About Barbara and Roger:
Barbara is a mother and renowned big brush calligraphic artist, author, and illustrator for children and adults. A longtime Shambhala student and teacher, she is one of the founding members of Sky Lake. She is a longstanding friend of Family Camp.
Roger is a Buddhist and Shambhala student and teacher and longtime friend of Family Camp, serving as teacher in residence for two years and Explorer’s teacher for many years. He is the father of two sons and currently resides in beautiful Mexico with his dog, Rigpa.
