Details of this retreat

Between the holidays lies a rare chance to pause.
To shed the stress, the noise, the overindulgence—
and step into the fire of renewal.

Join us for a transformative weekend at Sat Manav Yoga Ashram, a traditional mountain retreat in western Maine. Here, amidst the quiet forest and the warmth of our wood-fired sauna, you’ll discover the ancient yogic art of purification.

🔥 Hot & Cold Therapy – wood-fired sauna, essential oil steam, plunges in our icy mountain stream (optional), and learn how to bring their benefits into your daily life
🌿 Natural Rejuvenation – ancient therapies, invigorating practices, and cellular level renewal
🎶 Yogic Vibration – chanting, drumming, and Pranayama (breathing practices) to clear stagnation in your body, mind and life in general
🍲 Nourishment – vibrant vegan meals shared in true communal style
✨ Connection – time with like-minded individuals and one-on-one guidance from practicing yogis

Curious about meals at the Ashram? Discover our food — the philosophy, the flavors, and what guests love most.

Curious about lodging? View our accommodations with photos of cabins, and tenting options.

This isn’t just a getaway—it’s an initiation into a way of living where your life can realign with nature. Step away from the pressures of the season and into clarity, strength, and renewal before the new year begins.

Space is limited to 6 people to keep this retreat personal and powerful.

Reserve your spot now—give yourself, your family or a loved one, the gift of true rejuvenation this holiday season.

Accommodation

Every building at Sat Manav Yoga Ashram was constructed by the resident Yogis, creating the ideal environment for reflection and practice. They follow the essential guidelines for Yogic living, while still providing a very comfortable, restful and pleasant atmosphere. Each building is heated with wood and cooled by opening the windows to fresh mountain air. Water is drawn by hand pumps, we use composting toilets and pump showers (hot), keeping us deeply connected with the life-sustaining resources we use. There is no wi-fi or conventional electronics that interfere with our well-being. In today's world there are very few places you can give your body and mind a total reprieve from the effects and distractions of electronics. With Yogic décor and all-natural materials (from the linens you sleep in to the floor you walk on) nestled in the Maine woods surrounded by rushing mountain streams, your nights will be as unforgettable as your days. Our first guest cabin, the "Kund," has an open downstairs, a private deck off of one bedroom, and a beautiful tile shower. The upstairs is divided into two rooms; one with a queen and one with two twin futons. A shared full bath and comfortable living area (with LOTS of books) are downstairs. With cherry floors, knotty pine walls, skylights and wonderful views of the property, a night at the Kund is the perfect conclusion to your day! Our second cabin, the "Shodhana," is centrally located, but also tucked away, just across from our wood-fired Sauna; also the shower house. It features 2 bedrooms with private half baths, and a shared living room, with couches that inspire hours of reflective reading or a rejuvenating nap. Nestled in the trees, between two streams, Shodhana is the perfect place for release into the peace and quiet.
