Details of this retreat

For thousands of years, the Rishis—the wisest sages the world has ever known—studied life itself. They discovered a universal truth: every being is designed to serve a life-enhancing purpose that benefits all of existence. And they left us the precise science for how to live that purpose.

This is Yoga.
Not exercise, not escape—a concrete, step-by-step path from where you are now to the highest potential you’re capable of.

If you’re tired, unfocused, or struggling to feel purpose… if your body feels older than it should… if you’re just looking for “more” and don’t yet know what that means—Yoga offers the reversal. It restores the functionality we’ve lost as human beings: clarity of mind, resilience of body, and the inner steadiness to meet life’s challenges head-on.

At Sat Manav Yoga Ashram, you’ll train in this science exactly as it’s been practiced for millennia—untainted, undistracted, and fully alive. Guided by accomplished Yogis, you’ll move through the essential practices:

Asana to fortify your body and clear internal resistance

Pranayama to unlock energy, focus, and emotional steadiness

Meditation to quiet the mind and sharpen insight

Yogic Lifestyle Principles for food, rest, rhythm, and environmental clarity

You’ll Leave With:
A sustainable daily practice rooted in ancient principles

Tools to dissolve mental noise and meet life’s pressures with clarity

A renewed sense of direction, anchored in your true purpose

Energy, focus, and resilience that carry into every part of your life

Retreat with us is like stepping back into the ancient days of Yoga, when teachings were shared in close, personal circles. For this reason, we welcome only 4–8 guests per retreat, ensuring depth and intimacy. And while our guest count is small, you’ll be held by the presence of our 12 resident Yogis, embraced as part of the living family of Sat Manav.

This is the ultimate release of what holds you back from your higher potential—a complete rejuvenation of body, mind, and purpose. Reserve your place now!

Food is practice too. Explore Yogic eating with photos, guest reflections, and our approach to nourishing the whole being.

Wondering where you’ll be staying? See our accommodations — simple, natural spaces designed for deep rest.

For one rare weekend or week long retreat, immerse yourself in the rhythm of an authentic Ashram—off-grid, surrounded by 140+ acres of forest, nourished by legendary plant-based healing cuisine, and guided every step of the way.

Whether you’ve practiced for years or are stepping onto the path for the first time, this is Yoga as the Rishis intended—real, complete, and life-changing.

Accommodation

Every building at Sat Manav Yoga Ashram was constructed by the resident Yogis, creating the ideal environment for reflection and practice. They follow the essential guidelines for Yogic living, while still providing a very comfortable, restful and pleasant atmosphere. Each building is heated with wood and cooled by opening the windows to fresh mountain air. Water is drawn by hand pumps, we use composting toilets and pump showers (hot), keeping us deeply connected with the life-sustaining resources we use. There is no wi-fi or conventional electronics that interfere with our well-being. In today's world there are very few places you can give your body and mind a total reprieve from the effects and distractions of electronics. With Yogic décor and all-natural materials (from the linens you sleep in to the floor you walk on) nestled in the Maine woods surrounded by rushing mountain streams, your nights will be as unforgettable as your days. Our first guest cabin, the "Kund," has an open downstairs, a private deck off of one bedroom, and a beautiful tile shower. The upstairs is divided into two rooms; one with a queen and one with two twin futons. A shared full bath and comfortable living area (with LOTS of books) are downstairs. With cherry floors, knotty pine walls, skylights and wonderful views of the property, a night at the Kund is the perfect conclusion to your day! Our second cabin, the "Shodhana," is centrally located, but also tucked away, just across from our wood-fired Sauna; also the shower house. It features 2 bedrooms with private half baths, and a shared living room, with couches that inspire hours of reflective reading or a rejuvenating nap. Nestled in the trees, between two streams, Shodhana is the perfect place for release into the peace and quiet.
