Details of this retreat

Hanuman is celebrated across India as the embodiment of strength, devotion, and service. Known as the Son of the Wind, he is the monkey god who lifts mountains, crosses oceans, and accomplishes the impossible—not for himself, but out of unwavering devotion to truth and goodness. His power comes not from pride or ego, but from remembering his true nature and living fully in it.

In a world where humans often forget who we are, Hanuman shows us what becomes possible when devotion and courage guide our lives. He is said to remove suffering for all who call on his name, granting strength, clarity, and protection. To honor Hanuman is to awaken those same qualities in ourselves—fearless courage, clarity of purpose, and the strength to serve what is true.

In Yoga, the gods are not distant figures to be worshipped as literal beings, but living symbols of the qualities we all must awaken. Hanuman is the strength that arises from devotion, the courage that comes from humility, and the clarity that comes from serving truth. To honor him is to call forth those same qualities within ourselves—so that instead of adding to the harm in the world, we begin to live in a way that benefits all beings.

At Sat Manav Yoga Ashram, Hanuman Jayanti is not simply a story remembered but a living festival. Through ritual, discourse, music, and feasting, we connect with the essence Hanuman embodies and apply it to our own lives today.

🔥 Hanuman Puja — powerful ritual to invoke courage and clarity
🎶 Sacred Sound — live chanting and music to awaken energy and devotion
✨ Discourse & Reflection — teachings that reveal Hanuman’s relevance in our modern lives
🍲 Ashram Feast — vibrant vegan meals shared in the spirit of community
🌟 Immersive Atmosphere — step into the living rhythm of a traditional Yoga Ashram

Come for the day, or stay for the weekend. Either way, you’ll experience the rare power of a traditional Yogic festival—an opportunity to step back from the noise of modern life and into a timeless current of strength and devotion.

Accommodation

Every building at Sat Manav Yoga Ashram was constructed by the resident Yogis, creating the ideal environment for reflection and practice. They follow the essential guidelines for Yogic living, while still providing a very comfortable, restful and pleasant atmosphere. Each building is heated with wood and cooled by opening the windows to fresh mountain air. Water is drawn by hand pumps, we use composting toilets and pump showers (hot), keeping us deeply connected with the life-sustaining resources we use. There is no wi-fi or conventional electronics that interfere with our well-being. In today's world there are very few places you can give your body and mind a total reprieve from the effects and distractions of electronics. With Yogic décor and all-natural materials (from the linens you sleep in to the floor you walk on) nestled in the Maine woods surrounded by rushing mountain streams, your nights will be as unforgettable as your days. Our first guest cabin, the "Kund," has an open downstairs, a private deck off of one bedroom, and a beautiful tile shower. The upstairs is divided into two rooms; one with a queen and one with two twin futons. A shared full bath and comfortable living area (with LOTS of books) are downstairs. With cherry floors, knotty pine walls, skylights and wonderful views of the property, a night at the Kund is the perfect conclusion to your day! Our second cabin, the "Shodhana," is centrally located, but also tucked away, just across from our wood-fired Sauna; also the shower house. It features 2 bedrooms with private half baths, and a shared living room, with couches that inspire hours of reflective reading or a rejuvenating nap. Nestled in the trees, between two streams, Shodhana is the perfect place for release into the peace and quiet.
