About this Retreat
Khenpo Kunga Dakpa began his Buddhist monastic academic journey at the Nyingma Mindrolling College in northern India. A dedicated teacher of the Dharma, he bridges traditional Buddhist texts with an often light-hearted approach to the so-called problems of the world! Khenpo Kunga also enjoys translating Tibetan-to-English Buddhist texts and seeks to bring the timeless wisdom of Dharma to the world.
Renate Marx, originally from Germany, has long moved between countries and traditions, dedicating her life to both education and the Dharma, rooted in experiential and interdisciplinary learning.
For over twenty years, Renate worked in Germany as a manager and program developer at the intersection of education, intercultural dialogue, and the arts. In 2010, her path turned more deeply toward the Dharma when she began her studies within the Nyingma tradition. After completing the Four-Month Human Development Retreat at the Nyingma Institute in Berkeley, she joined the Nyingma community and became a full-time volunteer within Nyingma organizations in both the U.S. and Germany.
Since 2015, Renate has spent part of each year in India, serving as an administrator and program coordinator at the Sarnath International Nyingma Institute (SINI). Her current focus is on international programs that foster connection and exchange between monastics and international students. A committed Dharma worker, Renate continues to develop her roles as a student, facilitator, and organizer, drawing from her background in education and Dharma practice.
Details of this retreat
Develop the superpower of patience to cultivate resilience, results, and goodness in the world!
We welcome a traditionally-trained Buddhist monk Khenpo Kunga Dakpa and Renate Marx from SINI, our sister organization in India! Learn more about SINI here: www.sinibridge.org
Join us for a joyful retreat, where we explore ways to navigate life with ease and relaxation.
Patience may be one of life’s most important skills to develop, but it is rarely taught systematically. Patience, when actively and skillfully cultivated, softens reactivity, judgment, and discouragement.
This special retreat will explore the facets of patience and its superpower for untangling emotions and thoughts, and offer practical methods for ease and openness. We will draw wisdom from Shantidevaʻs The Way of a Bodhisattva, Sixth Chapter , “Patience.”
This retreat includes:
Kum Nye (Tibetan Relaxation)
Guided Nature Walks in Redwood groves
Traditional Buddhist teachings and practices
Self-reflection and Group Discussions
Your financial contribution to this retreat supports monastic educational programs at SINI in India and around the world.
