Founded by Barbara and Michael O'Neill, Misty Mountain Lifestyle Retreat has been changing lives through natural health since 2001. We believe that the body was designed to heal itself and will do so given the right conditions. We have a large focus on the Eight Laws of Health (Fresh Air, Sunshine, Pure Water, Exercise, Temperance, Good Diet, Rest and Trust in Divine Power). Our naturopaths are trained in Barbara's principles and carry her passion for natural, holistic healing into every consultation. Our mission is to equip every guest with all the tools they need to leave Misty Mountain living a healthy life through natural means. Misty Mountain is Barbara's home and guests are occasionally lucky enough to meet her in person.
Whether you are managing a chronic illness, experiencing stress, seeking a complete detox, or simply ready for a reset, our structured residential programs give you the environment, education, and expert support to change your health - and keep it changed at home.
Programs run weekly (Sunday to Sunday) with both 8-day and 15-day options throughout the year.
All meals are vegan, gluten-free and refined sugar-free. We can cater for other dietary requirements. Our chef specialises in creating healthy, nourishing, delicious meals which are designed to support detox and healing.
Our on-site Misty Mountain Spa offers over 40 treatments.
Misty Mountain is a non-discriminatory environment - all are welcome regardless of race, religion, sexuality, vaccine status or gender.

Getting Here
Directions
Misty Mountain is approximately halfway between Sydney and Brisbane and is best accessed through the town of Kempsey. From Kempsey, it is about an hour drive to the retreat - 68 kilometres through the beautiful Australian countryside.
If flying, take a flight to Port Macquarie. Direct flights are available from Sydney or Brisbane.
Kempsey has a train station with services from Brisbane and Sydney as well as bus services with the major bus lines.
For a very reasonable transfer fee we can collect you from Port Macquarie Airport, Kempsey train or bus station, or your accommodation in Kempsey or Port Macquarie to bring you to Misty Mountain Lifestyle Retreat.
Accommodation
At your Misty Mountain accommodation, the only noise you will hear will be the calls of abundant bird-life during the day, and at night, curl up in your warm and comfortable bed with the soft murmur of the mountain-fed streams running over the creek bed.
Accommodation at Misty Mountain ranges from comfortable lodge rooms to premium private suites. Please note that some of our rooms are not suitable for those with restricted mobility.
Lodge Rooms - Our welcoming lodge rooms offer comfortable, air-conditioned accommodation with shared or private ensuite bathrooms, perfect for those focused on the program experience.
Hilltop Rooms - Perched above the retreat with sweeping bush views from your balcony, these refurbished rooms with private ensuite bathrooms offer a little more space and seclusion.
Family Units - Self-contained two-bedroom units nestled beside Nulla Nulla Creek, ideal for families or small groups travelling together.
Mirriwinni Rooms - Our premium rooms, beautifully renovated using locally-sourced hardwoods and natural stone. King beds, private courtyard gardens and luxury bathrooms - some with private spa baths. The ultimate, indulgent way to experience Misty Mountain.
Lodge Rooms - Standard
We have two Standard Lodge rooms at Misty Mountain Lifestyle Retreat. They are located in the main lifestyle centre. The rooms are air-conditioned, have a shared bathroom, one queen bed and one king single bed and include two treatments of choice for each guest (per week).
Lodge Rooms - Deluxe
We have two Deluxe Lodge rooms at Misty Mountain Lifestyle Retreat. They are located in the main lifestyle centre. The rooms are air-conditioned, have a private bathroom, one queen bed (plus one king single bed if booking for 3) and include two treatments of choice for each guest (per week).
Hilltop Room - Deluxe
We have one Deluxe unit in our Hilltop accommodation. This unit has two rooms as well as air-conditioning, a private bathroom, a queen bed and a small balcony with a view overlooking the property. This package includes two treatments of choice for each guest (per week). Please note: We do not recommend these rooms for anyone with restricted mobility.
Hilltop Room - Twin
We have one Twin room in our Hilltop accommodation. This room is air-conditioned, has a private bathroom, two single beds and a small balcony with a view overlooking the property. Hilltop Rooms - Standard

Mirriwinni Maths Room
Our luxurious Mirriwinni rooms were renovated in 2025 with locally sourced hardwoods, natural hard wax and low VOC paint. Our air-conditioned Maths room has a private courtyard with sun beds and garden with a view of the beautiful surrounding mountains. This room hosts a king bed, oil finished timber floors and feature bedhead, luxury natural stone bathroom, television, custom study desk, comfortable lounge and a walk-in wardrobe. This package includes four treatments of choice for each guest (per week).
Mirriwinni Home Economics Room
Our luxurious Mirriwinni rooms were renovated in 2025 with locally sourced hardwoods, natural hard wax and low VOC paint. Our air-conditioned Home Economics room has a private courtyard with sun beds and garden with a view of the beautiful surrounding mountains.
