The Word of the Word: Intimacy with Jesus Through His Gospels
A Retreat for Catholic Medical Professionals
Mar 20-22, 2026 for Men and Women
Mar 19-20 addition for Women
with Sister Mary Diana, OP
The 3-day retreat is open to men and women, starting Friday March 20 with a 7pm Mass and concludes Sunday March 22 with Mass and lunch.

The 4-day retreat starts Thursday, March 19 with a 7pm Mass, the Thursday-Friday portion is for women only.

As both a sister and a medical doctor, Dominican Sister Mary Diana Dreger embodies how caring for the sick is a core value of the Catholic faith. She hopes that all Catholic medical professionals attending the retreat will encounter Jesus in the gospels. "In his care for the poor, the sick, the suffering, Jesus invites us into an intimacy with Him by listening to His word."

She prays that all retreatants will grow in their own relationship with Jesus, and in conviction about their values and how their faith informs the care they provide. As the Catechism says in 1509:
"Heal the sick!" (Mt 10:8) The Church has received this charge from the Lord and strives to carry it out by taking care of the sick as well as by accompanying them with her prayer of intercession. She believes in the life-giving presence of Christ, the physician of souls and bodies.
Women are invited to have an additional personal encounter with Christ by coming a day early.

This retreat is being held in conjunction with the Guilds of the Lincoln Catholic Medical Association, Omaha Catholic Medical Association and the Nebraska Catholic Nurses.

The retreat Mass and confessions will be led by Fr. Christopher Kubat, National Chaplain of the CMA. The retreat includes rosary, devotions, adoration, silence, meditation and discussion with Sr. Mary Diana.

Airport transportation to/from LNK (16 minutes) or OMA (50 minutes) is also available upon request.

Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House offers a sanctuary of prayer and recollection on a spacious acreage near Waverly. There are 50 single rooms, each with a private bath.

Private Retreat
Thank you for your excellent vineyard work, assisting God in hugging His people!
I so appreciate getting to visit with Holy Spirit in your oasis of holiness.
And, thank you for your gracious hospitality, giving me a room, near the entrance, so I could care for my dog, outside. God bless you and His angels hug you.

Wonderful Retreat
The timing was perfect for a silent retreat between groups of large group retreats. I was nearly alone for my prayerful days with God. I had the chapel to myself all day long. Meals were prepared and placed in the refrigerator for whenever eating worked into my schedule. The food was good. The bed was comfortable, and I slept very well. The center was quiet, and staff members were helpful and kind. Father said Mass each morning and was available for spiritual direction. The 80 acres was beautiful. God led my much needed retreat, and I was grateful to God and to everyone at Our Lady of Good Counsel for making it happen.
