"Being relatively experienced in Ayahuasca and Aya retreats, I can say Soltara was the best and most professional and most profound I have attended.
(Enjoyability is dependant upon the medicine!)
- Most professional in regards to screening, interviews, pre-retreat information etc.
- ensures you are picked up in San Jose (option to arrive solo), options for hotels etc.
- Retreat centre is luxurious! Great food, pool, beaches, gardens, tambo & room options.
- Staff are again, professional and on hand to ensure participant safety, psychological well being etc.
- The ceremonies (4 on a 7 day retreat) where conducted by a knowledgeable and experienced Maestros, husband and wife (this does change from month to month, yearly etc.). Very insightful, safe and life changing Aya ceremonies, designed to gradually ease first timers in, peaking on third ceremony.
All in all I cannot recommend Soltara enough for first time drinkers, anyone looking to experience the medicine, anyone who is seeking healing.

Experiences on Retreat
"Highly professional organisation.
Our time at the centre was very well structured, reflected the retreat organizers’ significant forethought and dedication to us receiving the maximum benefit from the medicine. Highly experienced course providers. Integrity of the organization is beyond question. Authenticity of the maestros readily apparent. Intelligence and dedication of the western facilitators also highly commended. Food provisions were plentiful and exceeded expectations at every turn. The ayahuasca revelations in the Maloka defied description and for me, amounted to no less than darshan of the divine. All material any metaphysical aspects of the retreat exceeded my expectations. Lifetime friendships forged in the maloka and the sharemonies that preceded and followed those mystical encounters.
Highly recommended. "
"There are almost no words to describe the 5 day retreat experience I had at Soltara. But I will find some if only to let other people know more about this magical place. It was my first time in Costa Rica and my first time doing Ayahuasca. The facility and grounds are beyond perfect. Lovely and lush and quiet(except for the amazing jungle birds). The rooms are gorgeous and the bed is VERY comfortable. The shower is unlike anything I have ever seen. Like taking a shower in Jurrasic Park. All stone and glass with mesh windows looking out onto the jungle. I also loved the little balcony and table and chairs there. I shared a room but it worked out perfectly. The pool, star deck, dining area, trails, and various areas to hang out were lovely and the Maloca is beyond compare. Just perfect. ALL the drinking water at Soltara is triple filtered and safe to drink which was a relief and much appreciated. The food is all delicious and first rate and MUCH better than I had imagined. Each meal had 6-8 choices of the freshest fruits, vegetables, grains, as well as eggs, fish and chicken. Jesse is a great chef and goes above and beyond. I will say that many of us did remark that with a pinch of salt or chili flake it would be out of this world but as we are all staying on the dieta we understood the thought behind the choices and he still found ways with texture and variety to make it all delicious. The final day after our last ceremony he did add a pinch of salt and even made a sweet dessert(still healthy but nonetheless greatly appreciated by all of us). The staff is just beyond compare. Felt well taken care of and looked after at all times and the instructions from beginning to end were thorough and thoughtful. The facilitators are knowledgable, supportive, approachable and caring. The Maestros are true healers. The yoga classes, flower baths, integration class etc.. all of it was so well thought out and they were very clear about what things were mandatory and what was optional. I won't go into the ceremony experience as it is so unique to each person but mine was transformational and mind blowing and I am working hard to integrate all the lessons I learned into my daily life back home. I am SO grateful that Soltara offered us the Nectara platform and though at first pre-retreat it felt overwhelming it is an incredible and necessary resource once you get home. The price was a challenge for me as I am not financially in a place that many of those on the retreat seemed to be. However, after doing it, it was not only well worth it but I marvel at how much they give you and the care and attention you receive for that price. Especially with the sensational accommodations. I can't say enough. I hope to be back many times and I am so glad I made the decision to go. Thank you to Cristina, Leia, Kali, Tati, Paolo, Jesse, Maestro Francisco and Maestra Maricella for the care and support they gave us all. They have all thought of everything and it meant the world to me. I will never forget it. "
"I highly recommend Soltara. They take care of you from the beginning to the end. "
"Christina was amazing both holding the space for everyone and with me personally.
She has a range of knowledge/tools that I have not encountered before.
I immediately trusted her leadership (and that happened very infrequently in my life). She spoke with me with great love on one hand and great firmness depth and honesty (as I required) on the other!
That has been very important for my development during Cerimonies and after.
I am very grateful to her and her amazing path.
The Maestros and the Cerimonies. These are soo beautiful and profound that I know already will never be forgotten.
The whole background, organisation, other facilitators food rooms yoga (in no particular order) are very close to perfection.
If I coupd name one small detail in my room that I would have liked to be different is the colour of the light (a warmer colour would preferable).
Nothing went wrong.
I will be back in a year time hopefully with my brother and some good friends.
I just feel that they should have the opportunity to get some of the changes that I see in me or in the people around me.
Last but not least: the Medicine what to say about that other than Irake!
Irake to everyone including my fellow pasaheros.
🙏

"Complete breakthrough. Can’t explain to others because they won’t believe "
"My journey to Soltara this past week has been the most profound lesson in healing that I've ever known.
I came here wondering where this road would lead me - believing, meditating, and having faith in the process as it unwound. But what transpired was a growth of self, and self-awareness that I never knew was imaginable.
Ayahuasca is a powerful, and mystical medicine that brings you eye to eye 👁️🌀👁️ with your creator, and the deepest part of your soul, daring you to explore what lays in depths far beyond the edge of your comfort zone. It's not for the weak of heart; it's not for the weak of mind. It takes so much courage to show up to this space and dive headfirst into the unknown. Open. Eager. And ready to do the work.
And make no mistake, it is *deeply* challenging work.
But the magic that unfolds, in, out of, and around these sacred ceremonies - with people from all ages and cultures and walks of life - is real. It's tangible. And it matters.
Being able to engage heart-first with 19 other strangers, as we expanded into deep, textured conversation about our fears, vulnerabilities, failures, successes, dreams, and insecurities, is lightning in a bottle for the human spirit ⚡️⚗️
My relationship with each and every one of these incredible people, has instilled in me a dose of perspective - of the beauty, and joy, and tragedy of humanity in all its forms - and reminded me of universal urge we all possess to truly, deeply heal ourselves.
The strength it takes to be a pillar for people trying to do this kind of work is mind boggling. And unsurprisingly, the facilitators at Soltara are some of the most insightful, compassionate, and beautiful beings I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.
To create a safe container at all times - from discussing childhood traumas, career frustrations, deaths of loved ones, and beyond - is a calling and a blessing to humanity. Christina, David, Frida, Tati, & Paolo all truly - truly - speak the Language of the Universe, and are some of the wisest teachers I've ever been fortunate to know.
it took three ceremonies for me to connect and really achieve the big breakthrough. I was the first to drink. Got some meditation and exercise earlier in the day. And could just feel that it was time
Sipping tea in the presence of these legends, as my eyes drifted away into fluorescent skies and constellations connecting
I came here searching for answers, and seeking transformation. What I've been left with is a gift. Of what it truly means to see the goodness in humanity, our stories, our traditions, and our planet. And to trust, deeper than ever, in the goodness that I'm meant to share with the world.
Endless gratitude to the mystery woven into the fabric of this universe, to the things we can't explain, and to the passengers who dare to explore what is really out there waiting for them.
To the rich roots and rhythm of the Shipibo tradition and ceremony, their sacred relationship to this plant medicine, and to their almighty icaros - passed down from maestro to maestro for the past millennia - thank you for providing the protection and clarity I needed for this reawakening."
"Soltara at Playa Blanca offers an extraordinary experience and a nurturing environment for anyone embarking on or continuing their healing journey. From the warm welcome by the facilitation staff to the final moments of departure, I felt lovingly supported throughout my experience. The facilitation team and retreat staff wholeheartedly embrace each participant, providing a safe, insightful, and knowledgeable atmosphere during the retreat.
I was truly captivated by the retreat, and I am eternally grateful to the facilitators for their compassion and dedication in creating a secure space for my journey with plant medicine. The serene and picturesque Playa Blanca location added to the experience; I thoroughly enjoyed short hikes around the property, often spotting monkeys frolicking in the trees. The walk to the secluded beach is therapeutic in itself, and once there, the soothing waves and breathtaking ocean views were magnificent.
The culinary offerings surpassed all expectations, with each meal thoughtfully prepared with care and creativity. If you're contemplating a journey with plant medicine, I wholeheartedly recommend considering Soltara. With its commitment to authentic Shipibo ceremonies, skilled maestros, dedicated facilitation team, supportive staff, stunning location, and nourishing food, you'll find yourself in a loving, safe, and beautiful space to explore your plant medicine journey. Thank you, Soltara!"
"I had an excellent retreat at Soltara's new facility in the jungles of the Nicoya peninsula. Crossing the river 4 times and walking down a jungle trail for 30 minutes was just the start of the adventure that my soul needed for a healing 7 day, 4 ceremony retreat. The cohort was intimate. Only 8 people, we bonded and transformed together while the facilitators and Shaman guided us.
The food was excellent and tasty. I lost 11 lbs which I needed to do! This retreat facility is really magical, you are immersed in the jungle, safe and sound. It's truly a unique place that is much more interesting than just another beach resort experience. Do your soul a favor and book it while they are offering ceremonies at this facility. "
"Words can’t even describe how wonderful this retreat was for me. Some incredible insights and healing happened, and some wonderful friendships were made. The facilitators…I am truly at a loss for the work these people do. For me, personally, spending time with them was worth the trip itself. And then you add in the Maestros, the scenery, and of course, the medicine. It feels like this is something every person is meant to experience in their lives, it is such a beautiful and healing experience. And the way in which Soltara operates, honoring Shipibo traditions and respecting the medicine and the individuals journey, I can’t imagine doing this anywhere else after this experience."
"I had a wonderful experience at Soltara. The facilities, staff, and food were all 5 star level. This was my first experience with ayahuasca, and I was really happy I chose a place that offers so much support and love from the facilitators, maestros, and other participants."
"From start to finish, Soltara is an invitation to profound and meaningful healing. It’s an invitation from you, to you, brought to life through the Soltara team and their unique, reverent culture. Deeply woven with Shipibo beliefs and traditions, Soltara embraces the medicine, the work, and each person’s individuality with deep respect.
While ayahuasca experiences can be found in many places and can provide relief, Soltara offers something beyond that. Soltara is a transformative life experience.
The entire staff is dedicated to ensuring you have the tools, resources, and support needed along every step of your journey. They meet you exactly where you are, accepting you—and every other participant—just as you are."
"Where do I start? From the facilitators to the maestra and maestro, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The ceremonies unveiled things that will help me navigate my path going forward. This retreat really did save my life! Highly recommended!!!!"
"Surgery for the soul was how eloquently my cohort described the experience, and I couldn't agree more! Ayahuasca helped me in such a profound way. My journey leading up to the plant medicine had been years in the making and the opportunity to partake revealed itself at a time when I was most open hearted. It revealed truth to my authenticity, clarity for past blockages and gentle advice for current relationships. It has changed me for the better. I believe that this medicine is another tool for God our creator to bring truth and healing to all. The staff and setting of Soltara is an extension of the healing and support of the medicine. The peaceful jungle, attentive facilitators (Shout out Elan, Bonnie, Leah, Tati and Paolo), the talented chef Jesse and his phenomenal crew, everyone was so helpful, happy, light and supportive! I really can't say enough. This was my first experience and man, it's gonna be hard to top! My "cohorts" were a beautifully diverse group of amazing humans that will play a special role in this amazing experience. And last but certainly not least, the healers were absolutely remarkable. I am forever grateful to them for sharing such a sacred gem. Don't let fear hold you back, if you are called, answer. :-)"
"Beautiful people, place and medicine! "
"Soltara is a difficult place to write a review for, it's difficult to put words to it. The healing and empowerment I received during my stay transcends any other experience I have had in my life this far. I am a very spiritual person and have fully dedicated myself to many advanced spiritual practices. I have never experienced as powerful as what I experienced at Soltara before. The Maestros are so profoundly sacred and powerful, that I would not dare attempt to describe them with words. All I can say is - they gave me wings. And I still feel those wings extended behind me as I type this review from San Jose Airport. I've never been so humbled by pure beauty as I felt when the Maestros sat at the end of my mat singing me Icaros. I've never felt so empowered and worthy of all my dreams as I did after night 3, and still do now.
Beyond that, the staff at Soltara is as good as it gets. They are very capable, very experienced and extremely compassionate. The director and facilitators were instrumental to the life changing process I underwent. I am now tearing up at the airport in front of a lot of people while writing this review and I do not care. One of the facilitators in particular literally helped me bury a part of my past after a ceremony. She dug with her hands in the mud with me and together we blessed the soil. Ok now Im crying... and I still dont care. Thank you so much Soltara. Everyone from the Maestros, the facilitators all the way to the maids and maintenance staff were so incredibly kind and beautiful to be around.
The facilities are also fantastically beautiful. Everything you could hope for with such attention to detail. The food is DELICIOUS, and so healthy. And the water is the purest I've ever bathed in. I stopped using my face wash after day 2 and would just air dry on my balcony after my showers to let it soak in as much as possible.
THANK YOU SOLTARA! This review still doesn't adequately articulate how tremendously excellent you are. I hope you grow and expand to many locations so that more people can have access to this absolute magic. "
"My experience at Soltara in Costa Rica was nothing short of transformative. From the moment I arrived, I felt embraced by the serene beauty of the surroundings and the deep care of the staff. The level of intention and respect given to the entire ayahuasca journey is something I hadn’t imagined was possible before coming. The facilitators, healers, and support staff truly created a space of safety and profound connection.
The ceremonies themselves were guided with such reverence for the medicine and the participants. At no point did I feel rushed or overwhelmed. The wisdom of the Shipibo healers was incredibly powerful, and the insights I gained during and after the ceremonies continue to unfold in my life. There’s something deeply humbling about this work, and Soltara does an incredible job of holding you through every part of it—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
The accommodations were comfortable, the food was extremely nourishing, and the balance between personal reflection time and group integration sessions was perfect. Whether you’re called to ayahuasca for healing, growth, or simply curiosity, I can’t recommend Soltara enough. It’s a place where real transformation happens, supported by people who genuinely care about your well-being and growth.
If you’re seeking a meaningful, life-shifting experience, Soltara offers exactly that."
"Soltara is an amazing place, with an amazing staff. It is really a 10years of therapy in one night there. I felt really comfortable and safe there. Wonderfull spot to spent your retreat days in. Food is amazing and ground is full of activities you can do during your free time. I do reccomend this place. Thank you very much Soltara :D Ondrej "
"The whole experience and program were very well prepared to make you feel completely safe and relaxed to immerse in your healing journey
Kudo to the Facilitator team.
100% recommended. "
"My week with Soltara was absolutely mind blowing
It was perfect in every sense of the word.
The location, the food, the facilitators, the ceremony
Everything was great.
It was an experience which cannot be describled in workd"
"2nd time and it’s like I had never left. Soltara is home. Faculties, food, and staff exceed expectations. Changed my life and grateful does not do the feeling I have for Soltara justice. "
"An absolutely incredible and life changing experience this past retreat at Soltara. From the Maestros to the facilitators to the kitchen and cleaning staff, all were extremely integral and supportive to my healing journey. Grateful for the center and all who played a part during my time there. Thank you"
"Knowledgeable team of facilitators who provide expert support before and after the ceremonies. Comfortable facilities and fantastic food (including good portions of animal proteins).
Regarding logistics, tidying up the list of items to bring would really help: toiletries (shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hairdryer) are in fact provided, so only bring your toothbrush, toothpaste and some body lotion if needed. WiFi is also available, so no need to buy an international eSIM card. "
"The Soltara retreat facilitators and maestros created such a caring and supportive container for the ayahuasca ceremonies and anything that came up for participants during or after the ceremonies. They all do their work with such heart and skill. I can't imagine undertaking work with this medicine without such fantastic support and care. Thank you to Soltara for making this healing experience available!"
"Soltara does a first class job, on all levels. The shaman are authentic, deeply rooted in the Shipibo tradition of the Amazon. The Soltara staff/facilitators are well trained to support participants before drinking ayahuasca, during ceremonies and afterward. I felt safe at all times. That's important with this work, given how vulnerable we are in these medicine experiences. The group process work before and after ceremonies helps open the space, clarify experiences and really begins the process of post Soltara integration, paving the way for real life changes, changes that seemed impossible to make beforehand.
Soltara is not a party experience, using psychedelics for fun or cosmic musings. Although, some of that might happen. It's work, hard internal work. The aim is to heal deep wounds and help make changes in life. This it has helped me do. I am a return Soltara participant. My first experience as a Sotara participant was two years earlier. I am now positively working with addictions, their roots and the impact they've had on my relationships and well being. My life is better now... but still a work in progress."
"The ambience and environment was absolutely sacred and peaceful. The staff, Facilitators and Shipibo Shamans were Divine, caring, and loving in their approach. They truly built a safe, welcoming, and accepting container and space for us to go through such a transformative experience rooted in the Raices Inkas tradition. There was an environment of love, truth, and joy that really enabled for an absolutely life changing experience. I 11/11 recommend :)"
"Late on this review but felt called to share my experience. I got to attend the 5 night Sacred Valley retreat. I went in with an open mind, along with some healthy fear and a goal to heal myself. I was so overwhelmed and grateful for what I discovered there. A renewed confidence in myself, feelings of joy, and amazing once in a lifetime bonds with my fellow participants. This couldn't have been possible without the support of the Soltara facilities and staff - Bonnie, Gemma, and Robert are loving, patient, and amazing souls that do incredible work to support you on your journey. So grateful to have met them. The location is a dream and slice of heaven - unreal gardens, water fixtures, and mountains all around. The food is made with love and so healthy. You really are set up to just relax and focus on your healing journey. So grateful for this experience and I would absolutely recommend them and would do it all over again. "
"I chose the Soltara 7 night Sacred Valley Peru experience. The support team and Shaman Maestro helped to personalize the whole journey. I left Peru with a sense of time and money well spent with life purpose ahead more clear and simplified. No great need to accomplish anything greater than living the best me in moment I am in."
"I had an extremely moving and profound experience on my 7-day at Soltara. Everything about the container they provide for the guests is extremely conducive to a feeling of safety both physical and mental, and the facilitators are all extremely knowledgeable and supportive, especially for me as a first-timer. Each one was able to support my journey in an impactful way and were key resources for me in my journey. The Maestros are extremely professional and wise, and were able to help me navigate difficult situations to become a better and more actualized person.
I will 100% be back to Soltara again, coming here was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life and it cannot be understated how much of a force of good for the human condition and consciousness this place is in the world. "
"I had a powerful, renewing experience at Soltara. In the beginning the staff did an excellent job explaining what the week would entail. The Shippibo curanderos were very experienced and I immediately developed faith in their healing powers. People had various experiences with the plant medicine but most people experienced significant healing in one form or another. We were fortunate to have a nice, mellow group, and I can't imagine what the experience would be like with a rowdier group. Fortunately, I did not need to find out. The accommodations were clean and comfortable and the food was amazing. The grounds are quite nice with a lovely view of the sea. It's not cheap but in this case I feel I got what I paid for. One downside is that the locals had a party one of the nights of the retreat which disturbed the vibe but this apparently happens infrequently. Highly recommended!!"
