Brand New and Great
Our family of 6 (and our friends, a family of 5) spent a week together at Toji. We were apparently the first guests to ever stay there (in June 2022) so, obviously, everything was brand-new. The *physical assets* (pool, buildings, etc.) were nice and new. And the *natural assets* (ocean view, incredible wildlife, abundant mangos straight from the trees to our rooms, etc.) were great.
But the real value you’ll derive from a stay at Toji comes from the *people.* They were kind, professional, and easy to work with.
OWNERSHIP/MANAGEMENT:
Jay and Daniela were both very accommodating and helpful. They got us lined up with tours, transportation, and experiences we'll remember for a long time.
FOOD:
The chefs at Toji are great. One particularly memorable dinner was the seared tuna steaks on coconut rice with fresh-made mango salsa. Our kids loved the food, too. In fact, our 13 year old daughter asked (only half-jokingly) if Chef Yayi could cater her wedding when she gets married. It costs a bit extra to have a chef prepare the meals, but it was great to skip worrying about cooking and cleaning on the days we booked a chef.
ACTIVITIES:
We took a guided tour through Toji’s private trails to see the trees and animal life onsite (including monkeys that paid us a daily visit, macaws, giant frogs, and so much more), as well as a natural rock waterslide. We rode on the horse that Toji has on property. We took a macrame class taught by Daniela, who has quite a following as an artist on social media (in addition to being the general manager at Toji). We had incredible in-room massages. We hung out in the pool. We also had Toji arrange offsite activities like surfing lessons (just 5 mins from the property) and zipline and mtn bike tours.
ECOLOGICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL OBSERVATIONS:
Incredible effort was invested in making this whole village as eco-friendly as possible. That wasn’t a primary focus for us in our search of places to stay; we were just looking for a big place. But the folks at Toji seem to be genuinely committed to being as sustainable and eco-friendly as possible, all the way down to building design, onsite farming ops, and reusable bags to take to the store. Great job.
Highly recommended, without concern.
Perfect balance of nature and eco-friendly luxury
We also must mention the incredibly professional and attentive staff, that made us all feel like family. Already trying to figure out how to get back!
