About Psychonauta Foundation

Mission & Vision

Psychonauta is a word play, based on proximity of our home base to town called Nauta. Word “nauta” itself is rooted in Latin and means navigator. So “psychonauta” is voyager into infinite depths of own soul, that mystics of humankind recognize as reflection of universe. They have known a great many of techniques and tools for undertaking this journey. In our case we are drawing from indigenous traditions of use of master plants. Teachers and healers from wider circle of life than our limited human world. We are based in Amazon, so our work is based on use of local plants, including most famous of them, ayahuasca.

We realize our dream, living and working in the deep Amazon forest, near plants, close to nature, close to the local healers' community. We deeply believe in the power of medicine. We came to this piece of land in 2015, and have since then grown slowly, in a organic way, building houses and infrastructure trying to limit interference with the forest we found at the beginning. We designed the whole settlement with the idea of deep work with plants during diets in the Shipibo tradition.

Meals

Menu Types

Dieta is designed according to Amazonian tradition, and we rotate between what is allowed, however all food during main part of the diet is bland, without salt, spices, oil, sugars etc.

Getting Here

Location icon Psychonauta Foundation, Nauta, Peru

Directions

Our center is located in Peru, near Nauta, on a 24 hectare plot of wild Amazonian forest, 2 kilometers away from the Maranon River. It is best to fly to Iquitos in the Loreto region and then continue by car, taxi or public transport on route number 103. From Nauta you can reach the resort on foot in about 20 minutes. Usually we pick up our clients from the airport or main square in Iquitos and provide a private transfer to our resort. So you do not have to worry about how to reach us, our staff will pick you up from a previously agreed, easy to find place.

Safe and All-Inclusive
Psychonauta is a completely all-encompassing experience. The facilities were cleaned daily, the facilitators and staff were of the highest integrity and very compassionate. All my needs were taken care of and the instructions were very clear for me to be able to focus on my process. I look forward to the next time I have the opportunity to visit Psychonauta and dive deeper into my studies.

Words can't describe how amazing this experience was...
I can confidently say that this retreat has changed my life forever (for the better). I decided to come to the amazon and try this retreat in response to an extremely difficult time in my life dealing with very strong anxieties and OCD-related fears that were paralyzing me and greatly affecting my life.

I had no idea what to expect, but I followed the instructions I'd read online and heard from others to write down and reflect strongly on my intentions before the ceremonies.

The retreat is very unique in the sense that it's more than just the plant medicine; it involves living very remotely, surrounded by beautiful nature, in complete silence without external distractions for 10 days (or however long you choose to be there).

This isolation from the usual noise of the modern world, combined with the power of the plants they give you, allow you to access parts of your psyche that are usually obscured by the external noise, allowing you to "see" your life and your problems from a different perspective, leading to incredibly valuable insights which, for me, were perfectly aligned with the intentions I wrote down coming into the retreat.

The team at Psychonauta Foundation is amazing; very well organized, knowledgable, friendly and fun to be around. They were extremely supportive of my process, providing help when needed but also giving me the pushes I needed to get out of my comfort zone and actually do the work required to improve my condition and overcome my fears.

Coming out of this retreat, I can't say that all my anxieties "magically" disappeared...but that's not what I needed anyway. Instead, I was given the perfect toolkit to help manage, transmute, and learn from my fears so that they no longer restrict my life, allowing me to develop my Presence, awareness, and a greater sense of freedom in my life.

There is still a ton of work to be done, and I would not be surprised if I return soon to this retreat, but I feel very confident that the lessons I learned here will be a catalyst for changing my life for the better moving forward.

I am so grateful for the whole experience and the team here at this retreat, and can definitely recommend them if you feel called to experience the healing powers of plant medicine, and don't mind a very "off-grid", "in-the-jungle" living environment and are willing to push yourself and do the work required of you to heal.

Amazing
The retreat was so much more than I could have expected. Beyond the ceremony and dieta, which were incredible, the hosts, shaman, and environment were all amazing. I heard the food would be plain, and it was simple and un-salted, but I loved it. The living spaces were beautiful. I can't recommend this highly enough.
