During the intake phase, we conduct a thorough medical and psychological pre-screening process to ensure the safety of the experience for all candidates.
Once applications are accepted and dates arranged, the preparation phase includes the presentation of introductory educational content, and a 15 minute intoductory interview to get to know each other and to discuss intentions and upcoming steps.
The session begins with a preparatory discussion, during which we set and record intentions, work through doubts and fears, and provide "flight instructions" about how to navigate any challenging experiences that may arise. We then take you through a series of psychosomatic emotional and trauma release exercises that you can use during the trip, and conclude the preparation session with a tea ceremony.
After the tea ceremony, we guide you through breathing exercises to relax and calm the mind as the effects begin to take hold.
The peak hours of the journey will be inward-focused and the space will be non-conversational, so each person can be fully immersed in the sensations that are present for them. This part will be non-interactive and any support that is needed will be directly and solely from the facilitators. Though non-conversational and non-interactive, we still fully encourage self-expression in the form of laughter, crying, screaming, moving, shaking, whatever needs to arise in your journey.
Once the effects subside, around 6 hours later, we come together again as a group to lightly share insights, ideas, challenges, or reflections. There is also the opportunity for you to privately write or record reflections about the experience. We then close the session.
The following day, we gather for a group integration session where each person can share more fully about their experience and express the kind of support they need.
