About this Retreat
Jaya Yogini was 10 years old when she moved to Sat Manav Yoga Ashram, a traditional Yogic community in Maine’s western mountains. She joined the traditional Guru/shishya (student) lineage of Sat Manav Yoga in 1999.
Driven by so many questions that conventional society leaves unanswered, Jaya found solace and solutions, beyond her wildest dreams, in the classical teachings of Yoga. Leaving a “normal life” far behind, she immersed herself in Yoga, striving for its highest attainment — to change the world by living our true purpose as human beings.
Home-schooled following the Yogic model, Jaya has intensively studied all aspects of Yoga from a very young age, including the formal Yogic practices of asanas and meditation, along with Sanskrit, chanting, and dance, and continues to do so. As the primary teacher and coordinator for the Ashram's Gurukul (school), she designed and ran Yoga programs for children at the Ashram, offsite and in public schools for over a decade.
For the past 5 years, Jaya has been head of Sat Manav's Yoga retreat and outreach event programs. She teaches group and private classes, and speaks throughout New England on the life-changing teachings of classical Yoga.
For the past 23 her ever-growing passion for sharing her extensive knowledge and excitement for Yoga is surpassed only by her passion for living it daily at Sat Manav Yoga Ashram with her Gurus and fellow Yogis.
Details of this retreat
Do you want to feel more clear and vital—not just in the body, but in the mind and heart? We scroll, we strive, we chase. Yet underneath it all, we know: this isn’t enough. This is not the fullness of life we are meant to live.
Meditation is the key. It doesn’t just calm you—it rewires your system. Your nervous system steadies, your mind finds equilibrium, your energy starts to rise. You begin to see clearly. You begin to live clearly.
The Rishis of ancient India built ashrams, Yogic communities, for this very reason: to give human beings a way to return to our true way of living. To align every part of life around the most powerful practice of all: meditation.
That same living tradition exists here, at Sat Manav Yoga Ashram. Nestled in the mountains of Maine, every rhythm of this place is designed to bring you back to yourself. Daily ceremonies to inspire and uplift, powerful Yogic practices, nourishing food, the stillness of the forest—all of it carries you inward, bringing you deeper into meditation than you ever have before.
This retreat is about transformation. You’ll leave not just rested, but mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually energized. People describe feeling lighter in their bodies, calmer in their minds, clearer in their purpose. They rediscover strength they didn’t know they had, joy that isn’t dependent on circumstance, and a peace that follows them home.
Why do you need meditation? Because without it, life stays scattered and reactive. With it, everything changes. You build a foundation that cannot be shaken, no matter what the world throws at you.
Why come here? Because this is one of the rare places on Earth where the ancient science of meditation is still alive, still practiced in the fullness the ancients intended, still offered as a living gift to all who join us.
Whether you join us for a weekend immersion or stay for the full transformative week, you will experience the depth of meditation in a way that can change the course of your life.
This is your invitation. To step into a world all but lost in the modern age. To step onto the ancient path and discover for yourself the strength, clarity, and joy that only meditation—and the Ashram—can bring.
