About this Retreat
Jaya Yogini was 10 years old when she moved to Sat Manav Yoga Ashram, a traditional Yogic community in Maine’s western mountains. She joined the traditional Guru/shishya (student) lineage of Sat Manav Yoga in 1999.
Driven by so many questions that conventional society leaves unanswered, Jaya found solace and solutions, beyond her wildest dreams, in the classical teachings of Yoga. Leaving a “normal life” far behind, she immersed herself in Yoga, striving for its highest attainment — to change the world by living our true purpose as human beings.
Home-schooled following the Yogic model, Jaya has intensively studied all aspects of Yoga from a very young age, including the formal Yogic practices of asanas and meditation, along with Sanskrit, chanting, and dance, and continues to do so. As the primary teacher and coordinator for the Ashram's Gurukul (school), she designed and ran Yoga programs for children at the Ashram, offsite and in public schools for over a decade.
For the past 5 years, Jaya has been head of Sat Manav's Yoga retreat and outreach event programs. She teaches group and private classes, and speaks throughout New England on the life-changing teachings of classical Yoga.
For the past 23 her ever-growing passion for sharing her extensive knowledge and excitement for Yoga is surpassed only by her passion for living it daily at Sat Manav Yoga Ashram with her Gurus and fellow Yogis.
Details of this retreat
Long before “wellness” became a product, women lived close to the Earth, to each other, and to the sacred.
They gathered to chant, to cleanse, to strengthen, to serve, to remember.
They knew their power as embodiments of Shakti—the living principle of movement that fuels all life.
At Sat Manav Yoga Ashram, you won’t just attend a retreat—you’ll step into a way of life that women have lived for millennia.
Nestled in the forested mountains of Maine, this is a place where the mind clears, the body heals, and your true nature—as a woman and as a human—comes forth.
Over the course of a weekend—or a full week immersed in the sacred rhythms of Yogic life—you’ll experience intimate, personalized guidance in a small group setting. In accordance with Yogic tradition, we keep our retreats intentionally limited in size to ensure every woman receives the depth and attention needed for true transformation. Space is limited—reserve now to ensure your place.
Morning Sadhana with Yogic asanas and breathwork (Pranayam) to purify, awaken, and release body and mind
Devi Pūjā and daily fire ceremonies (Dhuni)—ancient rites of goddess worship that uplift and empower
Evening chanting and meditation in a hand-built temple honoring the divine balance of feminine and masculine
Women’s rejuvenation practices, sauna purification, and natural therapies—no phones, no mirrors, no distractions; just healing, henna tattoos, herbs, and sacred sisterhood
Nature immersion on protected forest land with rivers, trails, and the stillness of a life without screens
Organic, whole-food, plant-based meals, prepared daily by initiated Yoginīs who live what they serve
To keep this retreat intimate and powerful this offering is open to 6 women guests, who will join our 10 resident women.
This is Shakti Sadhana—a return to the Divine Mother, to her power and presence, and to the eternal truth of what it means to live as a woman—not just in todays world, but since the dawn of time.
Whether you're a mother, a daughter, a sister—or all of the above—this retreat will renew, rejuvenate, and empower you to align with the maternal force that uplifts not only yourself and your family, but all beings.
Come live what can’t be taught online.
