Caring by Tarthang Tulku
Wednesdays, January 7-28, 2026 from 5-6pm PT

Caring is something we and our world urgently need.  We know real caring when we experience it, but our way of life – or perhaps our way of relating to our minds – seems to leave us feeling profoundly un-cared for.  But.. .there is a secret.  When we learn to care for ourselves, we naturally care for others. Caring for ourselves, we find new inner resources that we can draw on, rather than be depleted by offering care to others.

In Caring, Tibetan lama Tarthang Tulku embarks on a wide-ranging exploration of the deep importance of learning to care.  Drawing on his Buddhist background as well as fifty years spent working closely with students from around the world, he shows us how caring can bring us face-to-face with human nature’s deepest mysteries – and its highest potentials.

In reflections that range from the simple heartfelt to the challenging and profound, Caring shows us how caring can ease our hearts, strengthen our spirits, and transform our sense of what is possible.  Come see what you find!!

You can purchase the book at Dharma Publishing, but you donʻt need a book to join our sessions.

Yoga is like surfing!
Just got back from a yoga weekend at Rayna Ling. Everything was perfect! Except me, I wasnt prepared for how hard a yoga workout could be, especially on my old bod! I unfortunately signed up for a yoga class I wasnt really in shape for, but the yoga I did helped and has caused me to sign up for yoga more in ability range. I say it’s like surfing in that, if you tried to learn to surf at Pipeline , it would be difficult at best. So it was my issue of over reaching and nothing to do with the teachers.
I will be back but only after I continue on this path of yoga and become a more competent student!
Thanks
Tom
PS - the temple was amazing!

A peaceful break from city life
The grounds are beautiful, and the secluded location and absence of cellular connection add to the experience. The cottage I stayed in was extremely clean and well furnished, bed was cozy so I had my best sleep in weeks. The volunteer staff was discrete but friendly. Vegetarian meals were delicious. Only point of improvement was around the absence signage and lighting, because trying to find my cottage in the complete dark was a bit scary!

Beautiful setting. Great food. Yoga classes inspiring. I’m very much of a novice and found difficulty in the sessions. We left early but have NO regrets. Perhaps the weekend for 50+ individuals might be more suited to me. Very glad we attended. We’re now looking for gentle yoga or restorative yoga in our neighborhood. Thank you for the experience.

An Unforgettable Retreat at Ratna Ling
From the moment the white gate opened to welcome me, I knew Ratna Ling would be an experience unlike any other. I was absolutely right. The property is truly majestic, and the views from my cabin were nothing short of extraordinary. The staff were exceptional in every way, and the cuisine was both excellent and delicious. My stay at Ratna Ling was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.
