About this Retreat
Luca is a professional skipper, RYA Yachtmaster Offshore, and a certified sailing instructor recognized by CONI Italy. He is also a Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher, a freediving instructor (AIDA / Apnea Total), and a kitesurf instructor certified by IKO (International Kiteboarding Organization).
Deeply connected to the water, he explores its healing dimension through aquatic therapies such as Janzu and Wata, integrating breathwork, meditation, and movement into his way of guiding and caring for others.
With a background in the restaurant industry and a genuine passion for food and hospitality, Luca enjoys creating an onboard experience that blends simplicity, quality, and the essence of the Italian “Dolce Vita”.
In 2022, he co-founded IKIGAI, a project born from the desire to live closer to nature, free from unnecessary complexity, and to share this lifestyle with others.
Since then, he has been living full-time at sea, navigating across oceans, diving into their depths, and continuing a personal journey of exploration, both outward and inward.
Details of this retreat
The sea is not simply the setting for our days. It is part of how we live them.
Ikigai is a sailing catamaran, but first of all, a home in motion. In the San Blas Islands of Guna Yala, Panama, we welcome a small group of people to share our life aboard: the sailing, the meals, the quiet moments, and the unexpected turns that come with living close to nature.
Away from the constant noise and demands of everyday life, we naturally begin to slow down. We wake with the daylight, fall asleep to the gentle movement of the sea, and rediscover a rhythm guided more by nature than by the clock.
Our mornings often begin with yoga, conscious breathing, meditation, or physical movement. These practices are not part of a rigid retreat schedule. They are woven into daily life, creating opportunities to listen to the body, quiet the mind, and become more present.
The rest of the day unfolds with the wind, the sea, and the people aboard. We sail between islands, swim and snorkel over coral reefs, explore secluded beaches, or simply enjoy the freedom of doing nothing at all.
Fresh food, prepared with care, becomes another way of nourishing ourselves. Meals are shared around the same table, conversations unfold without hurry, and genuine connections grow through the simple experience of living together.
There is space for community, but also for silence and solitude.
Surrounded by the extraordinary beauty of Guna Yala, we experience what it means to be part of a living ecosystem, while approaching the islands, traditions, and communities of the Guna people with respect.
Ikigai is not a conventional retreat or a hotel at sea. It is an invitation to experience a different way of living, where sailing, movement, nature, and human connection naturally come together.
We don't promise to transform your life. We create the conditions to step away from familiar routines, rediscover the pleasure of simple things, and perhaps gain a clearer perspective on what truly matters.
