About this Retreat
Kathi Sweet began quilting over
50 years ago and has completed more than
200 Quiltworx quilts. Kathi has been teaching Quiltworx patterns for over 12 years. She brings extensive knowledge and a warm, approachable teaching style to every class.
Her work has earned multiple awards, including AQS Best in Show honors in Phoenix and Des Moines, Best in Longarm Quilting in 2012 and 2013, and a top placement at the Houston International Quilt Festival.
Kathi loves helping quilters grow in confidence, offering individualized instruction and encouragement to work at their own pace. If you’ve ever wanted to make a Quiltworx quilt, you couldn’t find a better instructor!

Experience the artistry of paper piecing with the new Quiltworx pattern release, Artisan Traditions, taught by award-winning instructor Kathi Sweet. With over 50 years of quilting experience, more than 200 Quiltworx quilts to her name, and multiple AQS Best in Show and Longarm Quilting awards, Kathi brings a wealth of knowledge and encouragement to every class.
Enjoy five days of learning, laughter, and creativity in a peaceful retreat setting. Each participant will receive a complimentary color consultation prior to the workshop to ensure their fabric palette perfectly reflects their vision. Quilt kits will be offered through Sew Many Things Quilt Shop in Clinton Township, Michigan, and can be ordered in your custom colors or one of two featured colorways.

The NeedleNest Suite is a spacious shared room designed for up to four guests, each with a Twin XL bed featuring a 14–16" DreamCloud mattress, soft microfiber sheets, a waffle blanket, and a quilt. Each bed includes a headboard with built-in outlets and a nightstand with additional charging ports.
This room also includes:
Private full bathroom (shared by this room’s guests)
Large walk-in closet with extra pillows, blankets, and linens
Smart TV and ceiling fan

The Patchwork Pair is a thoughtfully designed room that hosts two guests in a cozy space inspired by the charm of patchwork quilting. Each guest enjoys a Twin XL bed with a 14–16" DreamCloud or Nectar mattress, soft microfiber bedding, a waffle blanket, and a quilt. Beds are paired with headboards that include built-in outlets and individual nightstands with extra charging ports.
Additional amenities include:

Shared access to a full bathroom on the upper floor

Two Twin XL beds in the same room can be converted to a King upon request

The Patchwork Pair is a thoughtfully designed room that hosts up two guests in a cozy space inspired by the charm of patchwork quilting. Select this option if you prefer a private room with a larger bed. When selecting a private king room, we will convert the two twin beds into a larger twin bed using the existing bed frames, mattress and a conversion kit. As always all beds have 14–16" DreamCloud or Nectar mattress, soft microfiber bedding, a waffle blanket, and a quilt. Beds are paired with headboards that include built-in outlets and individual nightstands with extra charging ports.

Guests each have a personal headboard with charging outlets and a nightstand with additional ports.

The Purl Room is a quiet, knitting-inspired retreat that hosts two guests. Select this option if you prefer a private room with a larger King size bed. When selecting this option we will convert the two existing twin size beds into a large King size bed using our King conversion kit. As always, all bedroom have 14–16" DreamCloud or Nectar mattress, soft microfiber bedding, a waffle blanket, and a quilt. Each bed has a headboard with outlets and a nightstand with extra charging ports.
